3M™ Interam™ Endothermic Mat E-5A-4

The 3M™ Interam™ Endothermic Mat E-5A-4 is composed of a combination of materials, including ceramic fibres and inorganic endothermic material. In the event of fire, they help prevent heat penetration via a chemical reaction that absorbs heat energy.

The 3M™ Interam™ Endothermic Mat is non-flame supporting and offers low smoke evolution, making it an excellent fire barrier for structural steel and electrical circuitry. This mat is composed of a combination of organic and inorganic materials, and includes an aluminium backing. These advanced endothermic materials contain chemically bound water, helping to prevent heat penetration via a chemical reaction which absorbs heat energy. The endothermic mat blocks heat penetration by chemically absorbing heat energy to protect structural steel, cable trays and circuits in conduits. It can provide up to 4 hours of protection for structural steel and up to 3 hours of electrical circuit protection. The Interam endothermic mat meets the following ASTM (UL) and NBN/ISO Standard Test Requirements: ASTM E 84 (UL 723) Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials, ASTM E 119 (UL 263) Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials, ASTM E 1529 (UL 1709) Determining Effects of Large Hydrocarbon Pool Fires on Structural Members and Assemblies, ASTM E 1725 Fire Tests of Fire-Resistive Barrier Systems for Electrical System Components and NBN 713-20/ISO TC 92 Simulated Jet-Fire Test.

• Provides up to 4 hour fire protection for structural steel applications in accordance with ASTM E119
• Provides up to 3 hour fire protection for electrical circuit applications in accordance with ASTM E1725 and UL practice 172
• Provides up to 2 hour protection for fuel-oil piping in accordance with UL 1489
• Provides up to 2 hour equal F-rating and T-Rating in large membrane penetrations of rated wall assemblies
• Provides protection against large hydrocarbon pool fires in accordance with ASTM E1529 (UL 1709)
• Provides protection to structural, vessel, and electrical systems from the ISO 22899-1 jet fire exposur
• Chemically-bound water helps cool protective item(s) in the event of a fire
• Suitable for indoor or outdoor installation
• Non-flame supporting and low-smoke evolution per ASTM E84
